About the studio

Comptelogicza is a small recording studio on Amsterdam's eastern islands, founded in 2019 by Sanne de Vries. Three people, three rooms and one clear promise: you know in advance what you will get and what it costs.

01How it started

Sanne de Vries spent years engineering sessions for other studios before opening her own in 2019, inside a former harbour warehouse on Czaar Peterstraat. The idea was straightforward: a place where musicians and speakers can work without being rushed, alongside an engineer who listens closely and says so when a take could be better.

Joris Bakker (mixing and production) and Marieke Jansen (mastering) have since joined the team. That means you can take a project from recording to master under one roof, or book only the part you need.

02The rooms

  • Live room, 42 m². For bands, ensembles of up to 6 players and acoustic recordings. Wooden floor, acoustic treatment and space for a full drum kit.
  • Control room, 24 m². Where you listen back and make decisions, with a window straight into the live room.
  • Booth, 6 m². Closed off and quiet, designed for a single voice: vocals, voice-over, podcast or audiobook.

We have 22 microphones on hand. Which ones we use depends on your instrument, your voice and the sound you are after, and we settle that during the soundcheck.

03How we work

We work by appointment only. Sessions last at least 2 hours, which leaves time to set up, perform and listen back. We make an interim backup during every session and keep your project files for 6 months after delivery.

For mixing, 2 revision rounds per song are included. You collect your notes for each round, so every new version is a clear step forward. The details of each service are on the services and rates page.

04Where to find us

The studio is at Czaar Peterstraat 148, 1018 PR Amsterdam, in the Oostelijke Eilanden neighbourhood. From Amsterdam Centraal it is about a 20-minute walk east along Prins Hendrikkade and Kattenburgerstraat to Czaar Peterstraat. By bike it takes around 8 minutes, and there are bike racks in the street. Street parking is paid municipal parking.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–18:00, closed on Sunday. Coming for the first time? Arrange a short introductory chat through the contact page.
